Using a Merchant Account to Collect Payments for Self Fulfilled Product Orders

Note: This feature is exclusive to Advanced plan subscribers

If you have a merchant account, you can use Authorize.net or PayPal Payments Pro to collect credit card payments directly when customers order Self-fulfilled Products. Your customers will experience an integrated checkout and will not need to leave your site to submit payment.

Please note that when a Merchant Service is selected as the payment collection method for Self Fulfilled products, your clients will not be able to pay for Self Fulfilled product orders using their Paypal account.  They will only be able to pay with a valid credit card.

Note: Although Zenfolio does not charge any additional fees specifically for using your own merchant account to collect payment for Self Fulfilled product orders, there may be fees by your merchant involved in setting up and maintaining a merchant account. Please check with your merchant to determine their transactions fees.


Configuring Your Payment Processor - Merchant Account

A merchant account allows you to process credit card orders for your Self-fulfilled Products only. It allows you to collect the funds at the point of sale to be transferred directly into your bank account. Both individuals and businesses can have merchant accounts. 

By linking a merchant account with your Zenfolio website, you're offering your clients an integrated checkout via credit card, which allows for a simple and streamlined purchasing experience. If you choose to use a merchant account to collect payment, Zenfolio gives you the option to enter account information for the two common payment processors:


Authorize.net

  1. In the Dashboard, go to Settings.
  2. Go to Selling using the menu on the left.
  3. Go to Collecting Payments.
  4. Mark the circle for Merchant Account.
  5. Select Authorize.net from the Payment Processor drop list.
  6. Enter your Authorize.net API Login ID​ and Transaction Key
    Note: You will need to obtain the API Login ID and the Transaction Key​ from your Authorize.net account. You can do this through your Authorize.net account by going to your ACCOUNT >> Settings >> API Login and Transaction Key. (You may need to contact Authorize.net directly to find out how to obtain this information)​​
  7. Select the Accepted credit cards.
  8. Click Save.

Paypal Payment Pro

  1. In the Dashboard, go to Settings.
  2. Go to Selling using the menu on the left.
  3. Go to Collecting Payments.
  4. Mark the circle for Merchant Account.
  5. Select Paypal Payments Pro from the Payment Processor drop list.
  6. Enter your Paypal API User Name, Password and Signature​​​
    Note: You will need to obtain your Paypal API User Name, Password and Signature​ from your Paypal account. You can do this through your Paypal account by going to Settings >> Request API Credentials >> choose Paypal API Credentials (PayflowPro will not work) >> view API Signature. (You may need to contact Paypal directly for more information on how to obtain this information)
  7. Select the Accepted credit cards.
  8. Click Save.

Please note that when a Merchant Service is selected as the payment collection method for Self Fulfilled products, your clients will not be able to pay for Self Fulfilled product orders using their Paypal account.  They will only be able to pay with a valid credit card.  This is true even if you choose Paypal Payments Pro as your merchant account.


​​Important Notes: To use Paypal Payments Pro to process your payments, your business must be located in either the U.S. or Canada. To use Authorize.net your business must be located in either the U.S., Canada or Australia.  Please contact Paypal or Authorize.net to find out which currencies they support and for information on their limitations.

Currently our system is not able to accept payments from UK based credit cards through one of the above merchant services. For photographers based in the UK or photographers with clients in the UK, we recommend setting up the account to collect payment for Self Fulfilled products via Paypal.  Alternatively, they can choose not to collect payment during the ordering process and just have the system collect the order details.  The order details will be sent to the photographer and they can then contact their client to make arrangements to provide the payment outside of Zenfolio.
