Hiding a public gallery inside a private group

You may want to have a public gallery available to visitors through direct links by e-mail invitations, but have it hidden from your Home page. You may also want to have a Slideshow with images from a Gallery hidden from the Home page. To do this, the best way would be to use our Hide from Visitors option. Your other choice would be to modify the Access Control for the public gallery, then move your public gallery into a private group. This is also good if you want to have a gallery made only for your Home page slideshow, but hidden from regular viewing.

Modify the public gallery

  1. In the Dashboard, select the gallery you want to only allow access through a direct link. Thumbnails will load in the Main Area and the name of the gallery will display at the top.
  2. Under the Toolbox click on Gallery Access. An Access Control window will appear.
  3. Uncheck the Same as Containing Group and make sure the gallery is Public.
  4. Click Save to apply your changes.

To make a group private

  1. In the Dashboard, select the Group you would like to make private in the Organizer. Information about the gallery will load under the Toolbox.
  2. Under the Toolbox click Group Access. An Access Control window will appear.
  3. Uncheck the Same as Containing Group checkbox.
  4. Select Private - open and visible to owner only option.
  5. Click Save to apply your changes.

To move a public gallery to a private group

  1. In Dashboard, select the public Gallery you would like to move under the Organizer.
  2. Select Move from the Organizer Menu. A pop-up window will appear.
  3. Select the private Group you want the public Gallery to be placed within.
  4. Click Move to complete.

The public gallery will be hidden from view within the private group. Any direct links to the public gallery will operate.
