Choosing Additional Fonts in the Theme Designer

Additional fonts may be added to your font list and applied to any text element on your website using Theme Designer. The option to select additional fonts becomes available when making text element changes such as changing the default font or an individual element such as the homepage display name. Theme Designer is used to make the changes.

The additional fonts that may be added are available from Google Fonts. It is not possible to upload your own custom fonts.

Please note that it is possible to add as many fonts as you would like, but as a highly recommended best practice, users should stick to just one or two fonts on per theme/page.  Using too many fonts will negative affect page loading times as well as having a negative impact on the on the aesthetic of the site.

See the following Google link for an excellent font resource to see how specific fonts affect page loading.  On this page, click Add to Collection and then click Use to see the page load meter.  http://www.google.com/fonts

Can I upload my own fonts?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to upload your own custom fonts.  For a font to be visible to a site visitor, the font must also installed in the site visitor's computer.  That means that even if a custom font has been chosen for display in a site, it will not be visible to the site visitor unless the font has been installed in their computer.

To ensure that the same fonts or font families are displayed when a site, these web safe fonts have been made available for use in the site.  Most of these fonts or font families come pre-installed on most browsers and computers.

Hundreds of font options have been made available from the Google font library ensuring that most kinds of fonts and typefaces are represented and are made available for display in the site.
