Displaying a Photo Strip on the Homepage and in Galleries

Photo strips can add a visually compelling element to your gallery, groups or even the homepage. This feature displays a gallery of photos in a horizontal strip and allows your visitors to scroll through them for a unique preview your work.

Photo strips are available for all Group and Gallery layouts and can also be applied to the background or spotlight content of your homepage when a full screen, wide screen or banner layout is used.



Adding Photo strip to a Group or Gallery page

A Photo strip can be added to any Group or Gallery page and will display a gallery of photos horizontally within a banner from 200 - 800 pixels in height. 

All modifications occur in Customize Website View. Main page changes occur in Page Layout and Page Options while more detailed style changes occur in Theme Designer.
  1. In Dashboard, go to Photos.
  2. Navigate to the desired Gallery under the Organizer.
  3. Hover the mouse pointer over Preview then click on Customize.

The page will refresh with Customize Website View displayed at the top, confirming that you are in the customization mode.

If you want to show a photo strip, you will need to set your page options to show the banner. You will be able to determine the height of the photo strip by setting the banner height.

After setting the banner to show, you will be able to select a Photo strip to display.
  1. Select Banner Content.
  2. Under Select content type choose Photo Strip (click Change above Select Content to change the content type if there is one already assigned)
  3. Select the the gallery you wish to display in the Photo strip
  4. Click Select to apply the images to the Photo Strip.
  5. Click on Set Options to set the image spacing (from 0-50 pixels) and to select the action performed when the Photo Strip is clicked.
  6. Click Update.

Your Photo strip will now appear on the Group or Gallery page banner in Customize Website View. 

If you wish for your changes to be the default for all groups, click SAVE AS DEFAULT and then confirm selection.

When you are done customizing click PUBLISH and confirm you would like your changes to apply to your live site.



Adding Photo strip to your Homepage


A Photo strip can be displayed in the Spotlight or Background Content of your home page when using a Full screen, Wide screen or banner layout. and will display a gallery of resized photos horizontally below your site menu or header.

Within a banner layout, the photo strip can display from 300 to 800 pixels in height.
 

All modifications occur in Customize Website View. Main page changes occur in Page Layout and Page Options while more detailed style changes occur in Theme Designer.


To add a Photo strip to your home page

In the Dashboard, hover your mouse pointer over Website then click on Customize Website.

The page will refresh with a new customization menu at the top, confirming that you are in the Customize Website View.




Photo Strips can only be displayed in the Full Screen, Wide Screen and Banner Layouts. If you do not already have one of these layouts applied to your home page, it will be necessary to switch to one of these layouts first.

Applying Full Screen, Wide Screen and Banner Layouts

  1. While in Customize Website View, go to Layout.
  2. Select the desired Full ScreenWide Screen or Banner Layout.  The Full Screen Layouts are displayed in the screenshot below.
  3. Click Apply.

After a Full Screen, Wide Screen and Banner Layout has been applied (or if a Full Screen, Wide Screen and Banner Layouts was already applied) you can proceed with displaying the Photo Strip.
 

  1. Click on Background Content (for Full screen Layouts) or Spotlight Content (Wide screen and Banner Layouts).
  2. Choose Photo Strip from the Select Content Type menu or, if a content type has already been selected, click Change then choose Photo Strip.
  3. Under Select Content choose the gallery or collection that contains the photos that are to be displayed in the Photo Strip.
  4. Click Select.
  5. Set the desired Image Spacing. This sets the number of pixels between the images.
  6. Set the desired Click Action.  This sets the action performed when an image in the Photo Strip is clicked.
  7. Set the desired Controller Style.  This sets the style for the tool used to navigate through the photos in the Photo Strip.
  8. Click Update.
  9. Publish your changes before exiting Customize Website View to make those changes live on your site.
